isaiah 2023
season 03, 04.07 | life’s rich pageant
We close the study of Isaiah and transition into the season Advent by taking a look at the final focus of this book. Isaiah sets the scene for the birth of a Savior by asking God to show up, to rip the sky open and save his people. In the meantime he explores what it means to be shaped by his Creator and gives us a peek at the ultimate end of it all when God will give us perfect peace and joy.
season 03, 04.06 | spoils with the strong
Isaiah prophesies about what the coming Messiah will be like. We learn about Jesus in ways that are eye-opening and potentially life changing, highlighting the way we often miss the point as his followers. What if we wanted each other to realize the love and grace of Jesus more than we wanted to be right or better-behaved?
season 03, 04.05 | this little light of mine
We move into the second half of Isaiah tonight where he explores the promise of hope to come more fully. We’re introduced to a figure he calls God’s Servant, whose mission in the world will be defined by justice, restoration, and light. We consider tonight what it means to be the light of the world and to carry the power of healing and transformation within us.
season 03, 04.04 | A tale of two cities
Moving into chapters 13-27, we’re going to see the way God’s concern is for the whole world not just for a small select group of people. Isaiah is going to challenge our pride, encourage us toward redemption, and paint a picture of where a life with God can truly take us. For Isaiah, fear and judgement does not get the final word, but hope does.
*We do not have audio for the message on October 11th, 2023 (04.03 “Life From Death”)
season 03, 04.02 | throwing darts
Isaiah’s prophetic words begin with a challenge that spans across the thousands of years and are still relevant to us today. We ask ourselves tonight, what kinds of kingdoms are we building with our lives and how do they differ from the ones that God wants us to build? Are we just throwing darts, or, as we see through this ancient book, can we intentionally do something new?
season 03, 04.01 | divine echoes
The book of Isaiah brings us a way of seeing, a fresh perspective, a new vision for life with God. Over the next few months we will explore the way this ancient book echoes the coming of Jesus in profound ways, helping us to imagine with more color and dimension and empathy the history Jesus breaks into, the way this new kingdom changes life as we know it, and initiates a period of waiting, this in between time of anticipation, hope, and expectancy.
