JOSHUA 2026
season 06 | 06.05 | Joshua: god doesn’t take sides
Joshua is full of stories and text are tough to interpret and understand in our modern sensibilities, but we enter into this territory by seeking to understand how the stories we encounter in Joshua were understood at their own time. We explore the depth of Scripture and how it speaks to God's goodness even when it difficult and we have questions and need to wrestle with it.
Ultimately, we look back on this story in the time after Jesus’ death and resurrection. The judgement of sin, punishment for evil, and condemnation of heinous choices is complete. It is finished. It has been definitively dealt with on the cross where Jesus died and was then raised to life. Destruction does not have to be our fate, but deliverance is ours in Jesus.
season 06 | 06.04 | Joshua: remembering miracles
Today's chapter is all about the power of remembering. In a culture obsessed with innovation and ingenuity, maybe what we need more than a new discovery is to return what we already know, to apply old truths in fresh ways, to remember the miracle of the cross. Together, we reflect on God's instructions to build a memorial marking the miraculous crossing of the Jordan River and the moments in our own lives when we've experienced the power of God.
season 06 | 06.03 | joshua: overcoming obstacles
Chapter three chronicles one of the greatest hits in Israel's ancient history, the miraculous crossing of the Jordan River. We explore what it means to be guided by God's presence, to believe in the impossible, and how this story might change how we approach our own obstacles.ou'll notice in listening to today's message, there are intentional breaks for conversation...we encourage you to pause your listening when you get to them and reflect on these questions either on your own or with someone you trust:
1) “Why do you think doesn’t God overcome all obstacles for us as easily as he did here?”
2) "What impossible obstacle is between you and the abundant life described in Romans?"
season 06 | 06.02 | joshua 2026: the past is told by those who win
Joshua was written down from the oral tradition during the Babylonian exile, at a time when the Jewish people needed to remember their national identity and have hope that the future was still ripe with possibility. Today's reading concerns Rahab and the Spies, a famous account that reminds us that God works through unlikely people and in unlikely ways to accomplish his work. It is an account that leaves a lot of questions, but like much of the history that we read and have today, it is informed by knowledge of what comes next, and is told by those that were shaped by it.
season 06 | 06.01 | JOSHUA: Facing the future
Everything is about to change. A new leader has been chosen and a new era begins for the people of Israel. How will Joshua face his future? How do we face our future full of uncertainty, unanswered questions, and the unknown? God reminds us to look back before looking forward and to take courage in his promise to be with us, to never fail us, to never abandon us.
