summer of psalms 2025

season 05, 04.04 | the age of overcommitment

Wrapping up a month in the Psalms, we look into Psalm 136 and the extraordinary love of God. Zeroing in on the Hebrew word HESED, today’s message unpacks the depth of the concept of a faithful God, ultimately expressed in Jesus himself. We will discover that God is with us in this life, in our triumph and in our hardships. Even when silence fells like we’re being ignored or forgotten, we can remember the HESED, the promise of covenant, divine agreement, the commitment on the part of our Creator God.

season 05, 04.03 | Jason Nelson: once in a lifetime

We are joined by our friend Jason Nelson who dissects Psalm 90 - showing us how these ancient words attributed to Moses still are relevant to us today. Jason challenges us as we walk in times of praise and times of lament to embrace the life that we have and that continues to unfold in the days laid out before us.

season 05, 04.02 | in the depths

Psalm 130 is a psalm of lament, and it leads us to deep reflection and great questions. The psalmist describes a place called the Depths. It’s in the Depths, we are so isolated and alone, so captive to the thoughts that we are having, whether they are right or wrong, sane or out there – that we can’t help but wonder – is this my fault? Is God punishing me? Does God do that?

season 05, 04.01 | a mixtape of praise and lament

For the next month we will look at selected Psalms - but today we start with an overview of the book. What does this collection of ancient songs have to say to us in modern times? We explore the three main types of psalm: Praise, Lament, and Thanksgiving and look at how each plays an important role in the spiritual formation of believers - both at the time that they were written as well as now.
